Black Owned Edge Control Gel

Why I Chose to Launch My First Product as the Best Edge Control for Natural Hair

Let me share a bit of my journey and how I found the courage to launch my first product—and why it had to be edge control instead of a leave-in, shampoo, or conditioner. As someone who’s been doing hair for years, I’ve always had a signature: laid edges.

Growing Up with Haircare as a Lifestyle

Growing up, I was the go-to girl for sleek styles. I came up during the era of side swoops, low buns, flat twists, and the honey blonde and cherry cola color craze. While I didn’t get my hair done often, I had to learn how to manage and style it myself. That’s where my obsession with edges began.

I quickly realized that the products on the market didn’t give me the lasting hold I needed. AMP Pro Styl Gel was a staple, but not great for all-day wear. Then came colorful gels, and eventually, I fell in love with Iso Plus Styling Gel—that yellow jar with the dark blue top became my holy grail for years.

I mastered slicking my hair down at night, tying it up with a scarf, and making sure I looked polished before school. For my edges, I had a whole process: a little water, Liv Creme Hairdressing, tie it down, then finish with gel. From sixth grade to now, I’ve lived by this motto: “If my edges are laid, my face is moisturized, I have black eyeliner and lip gloss—I’m good.”

Why Edge Control Was My First Product

Now, as a licensed professional and passionate educator in haircare, I’ve tried every product on the market. I knew when it came time to launch my first line, it had to be the best edge control—one that actually works for all textures, especially 4C hair.

This edge control formula I’m releasing in Octoberis everything I’ve ever looked for:

  • Extra hold that lasts all day
  • No flaking
  • No white residue
  • Smooth application for even the kinkiest textures

We’re currently in the testing phase, and the feedback so far has been amazing. It lays edges without buildup, doesn’t dry out the hairline, and works beautifully on both natural and relaxed styles.
